Words and Music by Graham Fountain and Warren Halstrom
The flashing lights are now a distant memory
The calls and letters few and far between
I wish that I could tell you how I’m feeling
How the sunset looks tonight from our porch swing
I sit here in the quiet and I think of you
And treasure all the things we got to share
I push away the anger and the questions
And hold on ‘cause I know you’re in God’s care
I remember, I will go on
You are my hero and just the thought of you makes me strong
When clouds hang above me
And life takes too long
I remember, I remember
The hours turn to months and years without you
And though I’ve had to struggle with the pain
Bravery and service were your virtues
You earned crown of glory on that day
You gave your life you gave you all
And laid your life down, when you answered the call
I remember, I will go on
You are my hero and just the thought of you makes me strong
When clouds hang above me
And life takes too long
I remember, I remember
