Sarrah Carroll was selected by the Florida Sheriffs to be the Assistant Executive Director of Operations on October 21, 2011. She is responsible for leading the operational efforts for the Florida Sheriffs Association including coordinating training programs, task force operations, emergency management and public safety programs across the state. In addition to these responsibilities, she will be assisting FSA with legislative outreach initiatives.
Prior to joining the Florida Sheriffs, Carroll was a Senior Legislative Advocate for the Florida Association of Counties (FAC). She successfully lobbied public safety and administrative issues during legislative sessions, including court funding, pretrial release and issues related to county jails, juvenile justice, retirement, elections and libraries. Prior to joining FAC, Carroll served as the press secretary for the Florida Department of Children and Families under former Attorney General Robert Butterworth and Secretary George Sheldon. She has also served in the Executive Office of the Governor, the Florida Senate, the Justice Administrative Commission and the Florida Department of Corrections.
Carroll earned a Bachelors in Crime and Justice Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas, where she was a Varsity Soccer All American Nominee and All-Academic Athlete, and at Masters in Criminology from Florida State University. She also received a certificate of proficiency in Spanish from Centro de Linguas Inter-Cambio, Seville, Spain. Carroll has been an active volunteer with Cops For Kids Tallahassee and Elder Care Meals on Wheels.
