We recognize exemplary performance in law enforcement and corrections at our twice-annual conferences. These awards programs provide an opportunity for Sheriffs to share in the successes of those who put their lives on the line every day and learn from their examples. In addition, FSA honors those who have served in the field of law enforcement for 40 years or more. Each Sheriff's Office may submit only one nomination – either an individual or a team of individuals related to the same incident. Please review the invitation to nominate and the nomination form for more information.
The Florida Sheriffs Association offers a special "Lifetime Honorary Membership" to Sheriffs' Office employees with 40 years of service or more to law enforcement. If you fit the criteria – having served at least 20 years and one day in a Florida Sheriff's Office with the remaining years of law enforcement service within the state of Florida – please contact your Sheriff to be recognized.
You will receive a beautiful plaque, presented by the Sheriff, and have your photo published in The Sheriff's Star magazine.
For information on the program, contact Patti Brigance via email or phone toll free: 1-800-877-2168, ext. 222.
A rare award that the Florida Sheriffs bestow on occasion is the title of “Honorary Sheriff.” See the list of previous recipients and years.(PDF)
