The Sheriffs of Florida take a two-pronged approach to addressing the very real threat of sexual predators preying on our youth – education and enforcement.

EDUCATION
Each of the county Sheriffs’ Offices has a point of contact for our proprietary program currently in development. When completed, SafeKidsFlorida.org will feature all available resources for parents, teachers and kids to help children avoid becoming a victim of sexual predators.

As this is being developed, the Sheriffs recommend using NetSmartz, a program by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.NetSmartz is an Internet safety resource that uses the latest technology to create high-impact educational activities for even the most tech-savvy kids of any age group.

The goal of NetSmartz is to extend the safety awareness of children and empower them to make responsible decisions online and in real life.

ENFORCEMENT
On the enforcement side of addressing the threat of sexual predators, the Florida Sheriffs Task Force organizes proactive undercover operations to identify and capture predators in the act of attempting to lure children and make them a victim of their devious acts.
