Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I purchase the Florida Sheriffs Association specialty plate or specialty plate voucher?

Visit your local county tax collector or tag office, and request the Florida Sheriffs Association specialty plate. Individuals may purchase specialty plate vouchers as gifts for family members or friends by requesting a voucher instead of the physical specialty plate. For your convenience, you may give the clerk the inventory code, SKR, for the FSA specialty plate or voucher.

Will I be charged any other fees?

You may incur a $28 new license plate fee if you are not already scheduled to receive a new State of Florida license plate; a State of Florida license plate is usable for 10 years with a valid registration. Other charges may apply including, but not limited to, registration, administration, user and personalization fees. These fees may vary but can be obtained by contacting your local county tax collector office.

When should I expect to receive my specialty plate?

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), you should allow 6-8 weeks for the manufacturing and delivery of specialty plates.

How do specialty plate sales affect the Florida Sheriffs Association?

Of the $30 voucher fee, $25 will be used to develop and provide important training for members of your local sheriff’s office as well as deputies across the state.

Can I get an FSA specialty license plate for my motorcycle?

Unfortunately, the Florida DHSMV does not offer specialty plates with logos for motorcycles because of a lack of space on the plate itself. If you have any further questions please feel free to email info@flsheriffs.org or visit the Specialty License Plate FAQ from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

If you are ordering online, you will be contacted by a representative from the Indian River County Tax Collector’s Office to process your order.
