Domestic Violence Training for Rural Communications Professionals

Overview:   This training course was developed specifically for rural communications professionals and their supervisors because rural areas experience unique challenges when responding to domestic violence calls. A law enforcement officer, a prosecutor, and a domestic violence victim advocate team-teach contemporary concepts of domestic violence intervention and investigation. 

Training Outcomes:  

  • Expand abilities to enhance safety of responding officers and victims 
  • Identify liability issues for dispatchers/call takers 
  • Apply new interviewing and evidence gathering practices and techniques 
  • Understand dynamics of domestic violence 
  • Increase offender accountability to prevent future abuse 
  • Identify state and federal laws pertaining to domestic violence
