4 Things You Need to Know

  1. You may purchase the FSA specialty plate at any Florida tax collector or tag office.
  2. Per the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the most economical time to purchase a specialty plate is at the time the vehicle registration expires.
  3. A $28 new license plate fee plus applicable State of Florida fees will be charged if you are not already scheduled to receive a new State of Florida license plate; a State of Florida license plate is usable for 10 years with a valid registration. Other charges may apply including, but not limited to, registration, administration, user and personalization fees.
  4. Vouchers are available to purchase as gifts for friends and family! An individual can only redeem a voucher if the individual’s name is on the vehicle registration.

The FSA plate is being sold to help offset a recent decline in state funding for advanced and specialized training for criminal justice officers. Now, funding can continue at no additional cost to taxpayers -- plus you get a stylish new way to show your support for your local sheriff and Florida law enforcement.

Of the $30 tag fee, $25 will be used to develop and provide important training for members of your local Sheriff’s Office as well as deputies across the state. Additional fees may apply.
