Ron Bedgood, a Clearwater, Fla. native, has lived in the Ocala area for all but the first two years of his life. Mr. Bedgood has been a member of the Florida Sheriffs Association for five years, and he said he first joined the FSA because he was impressed by the association’s youth programs and commitment to law enforcement.
Throughout the years, Mr. Bedgood has maintained close relationships with several deputies and officers, and he even once considered a career in law enforcement. He explained that growing up, his youth choir director was a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and at age 14, he also became involved with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office through the Sheriffs Explorer Program. As an Explorer, Mr. Bedgood said he received specialized training and education in various aspects of the law enforcement field.
Mr. Bedgood went on to participate in a work program at Winn Dixie, working his way up from a bag boy to store manager. During this time, he said he regularly spoke with the weekend deputies who worked in the stores and listened to stories about the work they did, which had an incredible impact on his life. Mr. Bedgood went on to work with Coca Cola for 10 years, before settling at Anheuser Busch, where he’s held several positions throughout the last 13 years.
In his free time, Mr. Bedgood enjoys spending time with his blended family. He has three daughters and his wife, Stacy, has one daughter and two sons. The couple also have four grandsons, with one on the way. Mr. Bedgood said he is excited to be in the process of purchasing a pontoon boat so he can take his children and grandsons out on the water.
