Lifetime Achievement Award
The Florida Sheriffs Association offers a special Lifetime Achievement Award to sheriffs' office employees with 40 years of service or more to law enforcement. If you fit the criteria – having served at least 20 years and one day in a Florida Sheriff's Office, with the remaining years of law enforcement service within the state of Florida – please contact your sheriff to be recognized. Award recipients receive a plaque acknowledging their dedication and an FSA Lifetime Honorary Membership.
Sheriffs' offices may submit nominations online year-round, however the annual call for nominations will be emailed to sheriffs and sheriffs’ assistants each October.
Nomination Criteria for the Lifetime Achievement Award
The Florida Sheriffs Association offers a Lifetime Achievement award to sheriffs’ office employees with forty years of service or more to law enforcement. Individuals eligible for the award will receive a plaque and a lifetime honorary membership in the Florida Sheriffs Association.
Criteria for Consideration and Recognition:
To be eligible for the award, a sheriffs’ office employee must have a total of forty years of sworn or non-sworn service in law enforcement, with at least twenty years plus one day of service for a Florida sheriff (excluding military service). Submission of employees for consideration must be approved by their current sheriff.
Procedures for Awarding:
Annually, the Florida Sheriffs Association will send a form to sheriffs for submission of award nominees. The nomination form is also available online. Any sheriff with an employee that meets the criteria set forth above should submit the requested information (name and personal address, phone number and email address, anniversary date, and length of service) to the Florida Sheriffs Association, and the form must include the Sheriff’s signature for approval of submission.
Once the form is received, the Florida Sheriffs Association will enroll the individual as a lifetime member of FSA and will prepare a plaque to be shipped to the sheriff for presentation. Presentation photos should be forwarded to FSA for publication.
The Florida Sheriffs Association will ship the Lifetime Achievement Award plaques to sheriffs’ offices once a month. From the date of the nomination, allow up to four weeks for delivery.
FSA Lifetime Honorary Membership Enrollment:
Award recipients will automatically be enrolled as an FSA Lifetime Honorary Member, and their materials will be shipped directly to them. If the nomination form indicates the individual is unaware of the pending award, FSA will ship the membership materials after the plaque presentation date.
