- Compstat: Its Origins, Evolution, and Future in Law Enforcement Agencies (Bureau of Justice Assistance). Presents the findings of an effort to assess the status of Compstat in local and state law enforcement agencies. The Compstat is a management process predicated on timely crime and disorder data, strategic problem solving, and a clear accountability structure. Ideally, Compstat facilitates accurate and timely analysis of crime and disorder data, which is used to identify crime patterns and problems. The project was initiated with the goal of studying the initial development and evolution of Compstat, identifying current best practices, and analyzing the future of Compstat. Compstat management practices are currently used by many local and state law enforcement agencies in Florida.
