FSA Appoints New Assistant Executive Director of Operations

Sarrah CarrollTallahassee, Fla. (October 21, 2011) – Today, The Florida Sheriffs Association is pleased to announce that Sarrah Carroll has been named the Assistant Executive Director of Operations. Carroll will be responsible for leading the operational efforts for FSA, one of the largest and oldest state law enforcement associations in the state comprised of the 67 Florida sheriffs, 3,500 business leaders and 70,000 citizens throughout the state. Carroll will be responsible for coordinating training programs, task force operations, emergency management and public safety programs across the state. In addition to these responsibilities, she will be assisting FSA with legislative outreach initiatives.

FSA Executive Director Steve Casey advised that Carroll was selected for the position because of her extensive experience in state government and legislation. Carroll has worked as a legislative advocate for the Florida Association of Counties since January 2009. She has lobbied public safety and administrative issues during the past three sessions, including court funding, pretrial release, issues related to county jails, juvenile justice, retirement, elections and libraries. Prior to joining the association, Carroll served as the press secretary for the Department of Children and Families under former Attorney General Robert Butterworth and Secretary George Sheldon. She has also served at the Executive Office of the Governor, the Florida Senate, the Justice Administrative Commission and the Department of Corrections.

“Sarrah is an accomplished leader who gets results,” said Casey. “The skills she learned in her various roles of government that will allow her to provide sheriffs the support they need and position FSA to continue to be a positive force in the law enforcement community in our state and across the country.”

Carroll has a bachelor of arts in Crime and Justice Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Science in Criminology from The Florida State University.
