Content and Learning Objectives: 

  • Review of Florida search warrant related statutes
  • Elements of a valid search warrant
  • The actual writing of an affidavit and search warrant
  • Execution of search warrants
  • Knock and announce doctrine in the execution of a search warrant
  • Plain view as it relates to the execution of search warrants
  • Liability of excessive use of force
  • Detention of third parties 

Who should attend:
Law Enforcement Deputies, Investigators, Supervisors, Risk Managers, General Counsels

Class size:
The class will be limited to 24 participants

Participant Requirements:
Each participant should bring a laptop computer to class for the Search Warrant writing exercise. If a laptop is not available every effort will be made to accommodate the participant. 

Tuition:
Tuition free. This class is funded by the Florida Sheriffs Risk Management Fund
